Dare to Think the Unthinkable!

Ideas & Ideals for Soldiers Everywhere
Welcome to the premier institution to explore mankind's unthinkable potential

The First Earth Battalion is a mythical exercise of excellence started by LTC Jim Channon for the U.S. Military. Soldiers would plant trees instead of bombs bringing peace to the planet with a sustainable way of life.

Thirty years ago, U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Jim Channon announced “he worked for the planet.” While at the Army War College in Carlisle Barracks, Channon spent two years researching the value of the human potential movement. He created a proto-mythology for the soldier of the future known as The First Earth Battalion. These warrior monks would be dedicated, first and foremost, to people and planet.

Instead of using machine guns, soldiers would learn to use their minds as a weapon and also carry baby lambs to the enemy with sparkly eyes as they would beam peacuful music to the enemy. Soldiers would learn Aikdo and apply natural healing techniques to humanity and nature. We would replace planting bombs with planting fruit trees; the new world would become a vitual Garden of Eden.

This alternative strategy inspired many new projects in pursuit of military objectives; one of them became known as the US Army's Project Jedi.  Remote viewing, PK & other mind and body program techniques were encouraged to let them "Be All You Can Be", a well recognized military slogan straight out of the First Earth Battalion handbook. The ambitions of the historical US Army's Project Jedi is continued here today in spirit at the First Earth Battalion as the Wormhole Squadron located at www.ProjectJedi.net.

The First Earth Battalion has many facets including Operation Desert Stream (bringing water to inaccesible places) and Operation Nobel Stewart (plan for restoration of the biosphere) and others soon to be revealed. New features to come to all our websites soon, watch for our sustainable living section.

Baltimore Sun Finds First Earth Battalion Roots in Their Own Backyard.

The Baltimore Sun posted an article about "The Men Who Stare at Goats" mentioning the role Maryland played in the events that inspired the movie. The article is titled "Battle satire 'Men Who Stare at Goats' has a Maryland link.  It's strange but true. Maryland played a role in the events that inspired the military satire 'Men Who Stare at Goats' " - Baltimore Sun, Micheal Sragow.

The Baltimore Sun writer Micheal Sragow explains to his readers how many of the exploits filmmakers ascribe to Channon's Troops actually happened at Fort Mead Maryland just a few miles from Baltimore. There was also a phone interview commentary  with Jim Channon about the First Earth Battalion and his view on the impact of the movie.

It seems in the interview Micheal received a glimpse past the movie errors into the real world of a Warrior Monk.

"believes that he saved lives in Vietnam by relying on hunter's skills that could be considered psychic. And he feels ESP is "necessary" for American successs in contemporary conflicts. "The secret of modern warfare is, don't get into danger zones. You can't do that without extended awareness."

So in the end, the entertaining farrago of make-believe and scrambled history in "The Men Who Stare At Goats" doesn't faze Channon. He compares his collision with Hollywood to "a 'meeting engagement.' That's when two armies bump into each other and make a mess. The ones that are quickest on their feet win. I've been quick in this case. So far it has been an amazingly successful engagement."

Spoken like an honest-to-God, flesh-and-blood Jedi warrior."

Jim Channon Slated as Guest on Coast to Coast AM with George Knapp

Jim Channon is the scheduled guest for Sunday, October 25, 2009 on Coast to Coast AM.  George Knapp will be hosting.  (A listing of affliates and times can be found on the Coast to Coast AM website.)

Jim Channon is the Commander of the First Earth Battalion, which is mirrored darkly in the comedy "The Men Who Stare at Goats", set to open November 6. 2009. The Commander is also an Enviromental Steward, Social Architect and Global Shaman, ready to discuss with George Knapp the 12 breakthroughs of the next decade that will guide our planet toward a brighter future, as well as how to build Global Social Intelligence.

12 Breakthroughs of the Next Decade

Jim Channon expressed his ideas and ideals for a new army of soldiers in "Evolutionary Tactics", published by the Army in 1978.  This field manual expresses the warrior monk archtype through illustrations of advanced human performance skills.  "The goal is to create combatants with a more advanced understanding of threats, allow for peaceful incursions into dangerous areas, and to spare the lives of soldiers and civilians ."  These warrior monks would be dedicated, first and foremost, to people and planet. The manual has been made available in a downloadable format, as the orginal hard copies have become a rare find.

The First Earth Battalion has "acted like a think-tank" with dozens of volunteer military thinkers actively involved in advancing human performance solutions for soldiers planet-wide. In 2008 Jim Channon confirmed four missions of the proto-mythical FEB. He stressed that the "main reason the unit exists is to profess the positive visions for the future for Armed Forces of the Planet and those independent global members who aspire to the warrior monk archetype."  He reviewed the following mission elements:  Be all you can be; create a paradise on planet Earth; recover the biosphere; and global public unity.

First Earth Battalion in the Movies

Watch this hilarious movie trailer in which Jeff Bridges plays U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Channon, in his role as Bill Django.

Men Who Stare at Goats 2009

bwgoatjim.jpgThe Men Who Stare at Goats is a major motion picture opening in theaters November 6. The comedy stars four of the brightest actors in Hollywood today – George Clooney, Jeff Bridges, Ewan McGregor and Kevin Spacey. Jim Channon's First Earth Battalion was the inspiration for much of this film.

A reporter, trying to lose himself in the romance of war after his marriage fails, gets more than he bargains for when he meets a special forces agent who reveals the existence of a secret, psychic military unit whose goal is to end war as we know it. The founder of the unit has gone missing and the trail leads to another psychic soldier who has distorted the mission to serve his own ends

The movie is based on a book by Ron Johnson called "Men Who Stare at Goats ". There was also a tv documentary called "Crazy Rulers of the World ."

The book and TV series examines connections between paranormal military programs and psychological techniques being used for interrogation in the War on Terror.

The book also traces the evolution of these covert activities over the past three decades, and sees how they are alive today within US Homeland Security and post-war Iraq. Why have 100 de-bleated goats been secretly placed inside the Special Forces command center at Fort Bragg, North Carolina? The book and documentary explains all the movie is based on in this true life history of our military.

The movie looks at the funny human side of our marvelous determination, it will indeed be hilarious.

Enjoy the comical story protrayed as entertainment comming out in the movies Nov 6th.

The US Army's Historical Project Jedi

A new concept to free the oppressed!

Introduction

"In 1979, the Peoples’ Republic of China publicly reported that several thousand of its children aged 8-14 were capable of telepathy, clairvoyance, X-ray vision, or psychokinesis. (See source links at the end of the article.) Having already heard about this program, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), National Security Agency (NSA), Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), Lawrence Livermore Laboratories, and the US Army were simultaneously pouring billions of dollars into their own similar research.

The Army program was headquartered at Fort Meade, Maryland, and was part of the Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM). Leaders included Generals Edmund Thompson and Albert Stubblebine, and Colonel John Alexander.

Officers assigned to the US Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania contributed research to the project, and "The First Earth Battalion" is essentially a textual copy of one group's unclassified briefing slides.

Although decidedly New Age, the War College project was not entirely theoretical. Colonel Alexander, for example, went on to become a leader in the Los Alamos National Lab's non-lethal weapons program. Likewise, during the early 1980s Special Forces hired Richard Strozzi Heckler and other outside contractors to provide two A-teams, a total of 25 men, with training in biofeedback, aikido, and "mind-body psychology." In the latter program, a typical training day included running, swimming, "industrial-strength" calisthenics, and 1-1/2 hours of aikido practice. After six months, the soldiers were not aikido masters but they were quantifiably 75% more physically fit than when they started.

Quoting Channon: "The ideas circulated by this mythical force [First Earth Battalion] began with combat of the collective conscience… the principal that if any contest is viewed by the television audience, it will be judged in the end on ethical superiority. The world will be watching and investigating soldiers after any major international military event."

However you want to be seen in the end requires a commitment in the begining.

Historical US Army's Project Jedi Today:
The Wormhole Squadron

Wormhole Squadron First official online activity of the FirstEarthBattalion.com was activated August 2007 by remote viewing instructor Jaybird as a place  tor expanding on our understanding of human potential in honor Jim Channon & the tradition started in the military. By utilizing this place to carry on that tradition, early activity was a place to congragate for research, live projects & remote viewing but ultimately grew beyond our wildest dreams.

The member activity of this site for years was full of serious research into the potential of the human mind. So strong was the interest in human mental potential that  these ideas began to dominate the site topics and activities. As the project grew it became exceedingly clear that we had a full sqadron in need of thier own site; human mental/physical advancement is only one facet of the FEB. Today FEB members interested in the US Army's Project Jedi are known as the Wormhole Squadron.
